The end of Sónar's 25th anniversary celebration couldn't be in better hands. Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto, together again to offer the closing concert of Sónar 2018. And in a spectacular space: the Teatre Grec of Barcelona, with its majestic open-air amphitheatre. Both will present a totally new and unprecedented show on which they are working right now. It will be called "Two", and will feature music created especially for the occasion, as well as room for improvisation. Sónar's will be one of the very few concerts in Europe that both artists will offer this 2018, off the back of their new album,"Glass", the recording of a live improvised performance inspired by the building where it took place, the emblematic Glass House designed by the American architect Philip Johnson in 1949.
The relationship between the two artists goes back a long way. Together, they have released several albums ("Vrioon","Insen","Summvs"), all of them published on NOTON; and it is not the first time that they will perform together at Sónar, where we have had the pleasure of enjoying them several times (as well as individually). In 2015 they composed the soundtrack of "The Revenant", a film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, and this recent collaboration confirms the excellent artistic moment that each of them are going through: Sakamoto - one of the most important musicians of the last 40 years, founder of Yellow Magic Orchestra and the Oscar-winning composer of the soundtrack to "The Last Emperor" - has had a huge success with his most recent album,"async"; and Noto has a new work about to be released, called UNIEQAV, which he will present solo at Sónar by Day. It's a luxury to have them back with us to add the finishing touch to such a special edition.
