Sónar by Day - SonarVillage by Estrella Damm
As if playing rare and hidden jewels from their record collection for three days at Despacio wasn't enough for the Dewaele brothers, they will also be in charge of the closing set at SonarVillage, a stage they haven't played before. The dj duo will close out three days of performances, music and celebration at Sónar by Day in inimitable style. Who better to bring an end to the daytime celebrations than two selectors that revolutionized the concept of the dj set and continue giving master classes of what it means to mix sounds every time they get behind decks and a mixer.
The 2manydjs format returns after a lengthly pause with the brothers focusing on their other project, Soulwax, a band with which they performed last year in Sónar (presenting the remarkable "From Deewee"). In fact, throughout their career Stephen and David have combined both worlds, which feed each other in a very natural way: synthesizers and electronic beats creep into Soulwax's records almost unintentionally, and the band's rock trend - with a preference for the motorik rhythms of krautrock - contaminates 2manydjs' sets for good, endowing them with unparalleled energy. It's a pleasure to have them play again, and even more so taking care of such a special moment as Saturday's closing at Sónar by Day.
