Sigur Rós are the first act announced for Sónar in Bogotá and Buenos Aires

The Icelandic outfit, one of the international scene's most respected and admired bands for 20 years, is the first name to be announced in the music program for Sónar Buenos Aires (November 26) and Sónar Bogotá (December 2). The group will make its live debut in both cities.

Since their very beginning Sigur Rós have created an entirely unique universe, both in terms of their sound and the spectacular and theatrical staging of their shows. True to their Icelandic roots and poetic approach, the band led by Jónsi Birgisson has remained immune to industry dictates and the call of multinationals, attracted by their power to fascinate and their success with albums including "Ágætis Byrjun", "( )" and "Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust". The band is currently immersed in recording their eighth album, and both dates are sure to feature performances of some of this new work.

The third editions of Sónar Buenos Aires and Sónar Bogotá will be held at new venues: Tecnópolis, will be the Argentine capital's Sónar headquarters, a multidisciplinary space located to the north of the city in the town of Villa Martelli. While in the Colombian city, the Hipódromo de los Andes will host the festival on the outskirts of the Chia municipality, also to the north of the capital.

More artist names for both dates will be announced soon.
