    Sónar by Night - SonarCar

NY History

Masters At Work, Louie Vega and Kenny Dope, will take the helm at SonarCar on Friday night. The long established New York DJs and producers will revisit their illustrious career with a six-hour session, encapsulating Latin elements through their Nuyorican Soul alter ego; first era hip hop breaks; a plethora of remixes, edits, soul, funk tracks; and an exuberant collection of house and garage nuggets from their vast and extraordinary discography. The party will most definitely be at SonarCar.

Anyone with even the slightest knowledge of dance and house music knows the Masters At Work name. Throughout their 25-year career their work and influence on the history of American holds no comparison, especially in their hometown New York, where they are deservedly deemed as legends. Two unique personalities and musicians from differing backgrounds have forged the success and legacy of Masters At Work: Vega -nephew of Héctor Lavoe, salsa, Latin house and DJ booths; Dope - Brooklyn hip hop, the first use of samplers and production. Together (and occasionaly individually) they have created classic anthems like "It's Alright, I Feel It", "Just a Lil Dope", "The Ha Dance", "I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun", "The Nervous Track", "The Bomb" (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind) and countless others; as well as an endless list of remixes for artists including Tito Puente, Saint Etienne, George Benson, The Neville Brothers, Ce Ce Peniston and The Brand New Heavies among many others. To call them Masters is an understatement.
