New life

Oscar de la Fuente and Manu Cachero are now better known as duo Fira Fem, commencing the next stage in their seven-year career together. The exit of their original drummer has led to a change in the group's sound, with electronic and dance music structures now taking a leading role. This has resulted in a third album of awe-inspiring energy and an apt title, “Vida Nueva” (New Life), which will serve as the foundation for their concert on Saturday at SonarVillage. Fira Fem know exactly how to combine pop guitars + cosmic synths and take them to the highest level.

The third album from the Madrid duo also sees a language shift to Spanish lyrics and acts as a starting point for a new sound: their previous work, “Fira Fem” (2013), was practically devoid of vocal elements, and since its very beginnings the group has largely been known for its instrumental developments rather than for its vocal treatments. Anyway, this progression is nothing more than a logical evolution in their career, if we consider that both Manu and Oscar have been experimenting with club music and atmospheric electronica for some time (The Field, vaporwave sound and the Kompakt legacy) with side projects such as Jackwasfaster and Bikes & Girls.
