    Sónar by Night - SonarClub

Saturday Night Fever

Marc Cerrone is a veritable disco music legend. His albums and hits, the calibre of "Supernature", "Love In C Minor" and "Je Suis Music" are fundamental pieces in the history of the genre. Although the bulk of his production work and best known songs were recorded in the 70's, Cerrone continues to work and record; His most recent release was "Red Lips", in October 2016 on Because Music, collaborating with among others, Tony Allen, Aloe Blacc and Alexis Taylor. The incomparable Cerrone will come to Sónar to perform a live show in which he will DJ, play the drums, project his own images, and will also invite two vocalists on stage. Sónar by Night will experience a feast of disco music that no one in their right mind should miss.

An expert percussionist playing in bands since he was 17 years old, Cerrone made his solo debut in 1976, recording the legendary 16-minute voyage "Love In C Minor" in London. It was rejected by French radio for its long duration, but triumphed in America, and almost overnight Cerrone became a regularly feature at Studio 54. With a searing sound perfect for the dance floor Cerrone nestles somewhere between the electro futurism of Giorgio Moroder and the disco-funk of Nile Rodgers and Chic. He invented the "French touch" that would be reborn in the electronic scene many years later, becoming synonymous with the likes of Daft Punk, among others. The new generation of record enthusiasts (including Norwegians Prins Thomas and Todd Terje, for example) have declared him as an integral figure, to which he has enthusiastically responded by returning to the stage and recording in the studio. Therefore, it will be an honour to host him at this year's Sónar.
