A giant leap

The rise of Magnus August Høiberg to one of the musicians helping to shape trends around the world is in no doubt. For confirmation, just take a look at his recent projects. Over the last few months he has produced the song “Just Love Me” for the new Britney Spears album and has also recruited three regularly charting American artists to add their voice to his neon beats: (Georgian MC 2 Chainz; the singer and celebrity Selena Gomez; and Canada's The Weeknd). These three artists were invited to participate on his debut album, “Wild Love”, conclusive proof of his expansive talent and global status as top producer, and the record that will provide the backbone of his performance at Sónar by Night.

Cashmere Cat dominates the new synthetic pop sound like few others, connecting today’s electronic trends (future beats, bass music, grime and maximalism), already road tested on his debut, “Mirror Maru” (Pelican Fly, 2012) and via his edits of Lana del Rey, Jeremih and 2 Chainz. His signing to the Lucky Me label and the release of the “Wedding Bells” EP made his enormous potential abundantly clear and led to his first performance at Sónar in 2015. From this point on his contact with the mainstream has been constant: he produced one of the tracks on Kanye West's The Life Of Pablo,” and has worked with Ludacris, Ariana Grande, Miguel, Benny Blanco and Charlie XCX, among many others.
