Chromatic Electropop

While taking his moniker from the United States president, Roosevelt is actually Cologne born German Marius Lauber, a compatriot of Michael Mayer and a singer, composer and producer. Lauber has spent three years putting together his untitled debut album full of captivating and brilliant electronic pop songs. In "Roosevelt" (released simultaneously by two prestigious labels City Slang and Greco-Roman) there is barely a trace of his past as a techno DJ; Lauber is now an astute composer and designer of synthetic sounds and inspired melodies. His music is intoxicating, sophisticated and dance floor friendly and Roosevelt will perform with a live band on stage at SonarVillage.

With close ties to the Kompakt label in his early years, Lauber –self-proclaimed fan of Nile Rodgers and Talking Heads- decided to jump into production in 2013, the year in which he released his first EP, "Elliott." It became immediately clear that his musical interests leaned towards songs with perfect choruses, warm tones and electro rhythms that could achieve mini pop anthem status, especially suitable for the euphoria of the summer, akin to the material of Junior Boys, Talk Talk, New Order and Robyn.

This concert will be presented by the German festival c/o pop as part of the We Are Europe project.
