This year, Sónar is taking several big steps towards sustainability, reaffirming our collective responsibility towards the environment. 

For the first time, the festival is introducing reusable and returnable 50cl cups for all drinks at Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night. The cups can be obtained at all bars at the festival and require a deposit of 2€ paid with the first drink order. The bar staff will be happy to replace dirty cups at any time with the purchase of a new drink. 

To claim your deposit back, take your used cup or cups to the SonarCashless refunds points at Sónar by Day and Sonar by Night, where you will receive a full refund. A maximum of five cups can be returned at any one time. 

Sónar 2019 will also be aiming to reduce single use plastics from/on all its bars. For this reason, water will be served in the same reusable and returnable cups, and served from glass bottles, which are less resource heavy to produce and recycle. 

This commitment to reducing plastic extends to the food court and food trucks, with sustainable utensils, recycling and compost bins available for both public and professional use.
