An accelerator for next decade’s music production
The GiantSteps project aims to create the “seven-league boots” for music production in the next decade and beyond.

GiantSteps is a 3 year project funded by the European Commission that aims to create new interfaces for creating music with machines attending to the need off all the people involved in music production. Professionals producers would like to work faster; creative musicians and producers want open, free-flowing and inspiring tools; and amateurs would benefit enormously from affordable systems.

This panel will discuss and explore:
  • How can we imagine new tools and interfaces for the creative workflow of music creation?
  • How to can we incorporate musical knowledge in the form of non-obtrusive musical expert agents?
  • What’s the best way to bring technical and musical knowledge in transparent and non-intrusive ways?

Participants:

Michael Hlatky, chief of the prototype departments at Native Instruments.
Florian Grote, Native Instruments products designer.
Throwing Snow(Red Bull Music Academy), dj, producer, composer and label manager (HoTep, Ghostly International, Black Acre and Local Action). Former Astrophysics student. Part of Sónar 2014 line-up
