Sónar+D and Music Technology Group of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra present Music Hack Day Barcelona for the third year running. In this activity, a group of hackers (accompanied by artists) will have 24 hours to build the next generation of music applications.
Music Hack Day will take place on 13 and 14 June in the Palau de Congressos at Fira Montjuïc and will include 24 hours of hacking sessions, API workshops, the final presentations of the results and prizes for the best hacks.
With the support of, the EC funded project KiiCS (Knowledge Incubation in Innovation and Creation for Science) this year the Barcelona MHD will include a special neuroscience track, that will aim at providing a set of useful tools and APIs to encourage hacks that bring together music, brain signals, Brain-Computer Interfaces, and other physiological sensors. Through this approach, we want to encourage the creation of new ways of music creation and interaction.
The call to participate as a hacker closed the last 1st of May. We received more than 200 applications for participation, 100 of them in the first 24 hours of opening convocation. You can see the provenance of the 100 selected hackers here.
There are Music Hack Day activities just for hackers and others open to public like technology presentations, final demos and prize giving.
